Make a date with zombies and ghouls at haunted attraction parks in the DFW area
The Halloween season can bring out the kid in everyone with fun costumes, eerie decorations, and way too much candy. Another tradition for many is visiting haunted houses, and the Dallas/Ft. Worth metro boasts several attractions full of frightful entertainment. But a few locations offer opportunities for several scares in one night, all in one place. Screams Halloween Theme Park is located about forty-five minutes south of Dallas in Waxahachie, Texas. Well-known in its other incarnation as Scarborough Faire during April and May, the month of October transforms this park into a macabre festival of thrills and chills. Four deliciously diabolical haunts as well as a maze, graveyard, scary karaoke, and a children's area are all included in the admission price. Visitors can catch their breath between screams at Halloween-themed rides and games of skill for additional cost. Screams is open each Friday and Saturday through October 27th in 2007, as well as Sunday October 28th, from 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm. Tickets are $20 for ages six and older, with children five and younger allowed for free. More information is available on their website at http://www.screamspark.com. Thrillvania Thrill Park is nestled in Terrell, Texas about forty-five minutes east of Dallas. Petrifying audiences for over ten years, this attraction offers six ominous adventures for visitors to survive. The venerable Verdun Manor is surrounded by the creepy Voodoo Bayou, grisly Maze of Chaos, Granny Lupus' wicked séance theatre, and other unspeakable haunts. Scattered around the area are strange carnival games, mysterious fortune tellers, and a magic show. Thrillvania operates each Friday and Saturday during October and the first weekend in November from 7:00 pm – 12:00 am, as well as every Sunday through October 28th from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Additionally, they will be open October 29th and 30th with Sunday hours, and on Halloween night during Friday/Saturday hours. Tickets are $25 for adults, and $12.50 for kids under twelve years old. Find out more at their website at http://www.thrillvania.com. Phantasms Halloween Screampark can be found about thirty minutes southeast of Ft. Worth in Mansfield, Texas. This recently expanded exploration of horror now includes five frightening haunts providing sinister scares for those brave or foolish enough to enter. Grim Mead Manor and the twisted Circus of Monsters and Madmen sends visitors screaming for the exits. Morbid marauders terrorize in the new Pirates of the Scaribbean haunt, while the gruesome Nightmare in the House of Wax causes chills down the spine. And the only Egyptian-themed haunt in Texas, The Temple of Anubis, paralyzes visitors with unnerving hints of an ancient terror. Hours of operation are Fridays through November 2nd from 8:00 pm – 12:00 am, Saturdays through November 3rd from 7:30 pm – 12:00 am, and Sundays through October 28th from 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm. Phantasms will also be open Halloween night from 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Tickets are $21 for adults. So make a night of spooky fun during the Halloween season at the haunted attraction parks available in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. The dark denizens inside are eagerly awaiting your arrival.
